VEG WORLD INDIA
If you are a fan of curry and the whole culinary culture that goes with it, you most probably know all of the Indian restaurants in your city. And as with any other type of cuisine, you quickly recognize which is your favorite, which is O.K and which ones to stay away from completely!
After 6 years of living in Barcelona, we thought we had eaten at all of the Indian restaurants, until we went to Gracia Festival recently, and happened to spot a tiny vegetarian (90% vegan) Indian place called Veg World India – we had never heard of this place before and apparently its been around for a few years!
Located on Calle Bruniquer close to metro Joanic, it seemed very simple yet well decorated, with a relaxing atmosphere and about 4 Indian families having dinner inside (always a good sign). We went to try it out last weekend and the experience was exceptional!
The service was excellent. The waiter took very good care of us and was very courteous and friendly. The place was quite empty as we got there just as they opened for lunch, but the atmosphere was relaxing and pleasant, with incense burning in the background and traditional Sitar music for ambiance.
The food arrived and traditional copper bowls, with a small candle underneath the keep it warm. Everything from the onion Bhajis to the Jalfrezi to the Veg Massala, the garlic Nan and the vegan chocolate cake was really well prepared and really tasty. They do have a menu of the day (even on weekends) that includes a traditional Thali and a salad buffet, but we decided that we´d try the a la carte as our first experience here.
We can highly recommend this place for the vegetarians (and vegans) who like a good curry at a good price!
