CINEMA LLIURE A LA PLATJA
In a previous article, we mentioned the Sala Montjuic, an annual event that shows classic movies on a big wall of Montjuic Castle. This event is costs associated with it, and may not be possible for all to attend. If you are one of them or you simply prefer independent films, rather than Hollywood films, the Cinema Lliure a la Platja (The Free Beach Cinema) is just for you!
It takes place on the Sant Sebastian beach next to Barceloneta and features some of the best independent cinema. There will also be screenings at El Prat, Mataró and Badalona, so if you live outside the city, you can still catch some great cinema on the beach! Since the event is completely free of charge, you’re left with more money for “cerveza beer” and snacks! So take a look at the program, make sure you organize a group of friends, grab a few blankets and enjoy some of the finest indy films on the sand!
The program for Barcelona kicks off on 30th of June with “The Salvation”, starring Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chifre from Casino Royale) and Eva Green in a film about a peaceful American settler who kills his family’s murderer, thereby unleashing the fury of a notorious gang leader. His cowardly fellow townspeople then betray him, forcing him to hunt down the outlaws alone.
The rest of the program includes films such as “The Lobster” with Colin McFarrell, “Me and Earl and the Dying girl“, “Victoria“, “Leviathan” and many more (see below)
