MUSIC, MUSIC, and MORE MUSIC!
BARNASANTS 2013 SONG FESTIVAL
Taking place every year (usually during the first few months of the year) the Barna Sants Festival of Song is now running its 18th edition, and will be going on until 14 April.
It is very unique in the sense that its focus is primarily on singer-songwriters, who perform across one hundred big and smaller concerts all over Barcelona. The concerts take place in a variety of venues ranging from the L´Auditori to smaller, more intimate jazz bars. See the program here for more information.
GUITAR FESTIVAL BCN
If you consider yourself a great guitarist such as Jimmi Hendrix or Eric Clapton, or even if you just enjoy the rich and warm sounds of guitar, you will definitely want to check out the 24th annual Guitar Festival BCN! Similar to the Barna Sants event in the sense that it takes place over several months, and in different venues across Barcelona, this event becomes more and more popular every year. Tickets to the concerts range between €8 and €89 per person, depending on the concert. Performances includes EELS, Lucinda Williams, Marisa Monte and Patrick Wilson. The venues range from Razzmatazz, Apollo and even Palau de la Musica Catalana. See more information on the program here
Traditional folk music isn´t for everybody. Unless you are an old soul or exceptionally patriotic, it mostly sounds like music your grandparents would likely listen to. However, if you´ve moved to Barcelona and come to appreciate and love the culture, you will definitely like their Folk Music Festival, which was established in 1987, and us currently taking place until 31st March.
Fifty performances are presented at various venues across Barcelona city, where music from the 17th century can be enjoyed. Tickets can be purchased from Centre Artesá Tradicionárius, who is the institution that organizes the event. See their website for more information on the performances here.
