VISA RENEWAL FOR NON-EU RESIDENTS IN BARCELONA
After the first residency permit issued in your home country expires, you need to renew it here in Spain.
The two most common visa renewals we assist with are:
- Student visa
- Non-lucrative visa
Typically, student visas gets renewed after each year of studies and the non-lucrative usually is renewed for 2 years after the first permit expires. In other words, if you were on 1 year non-lucrative visa – if you decide to renew it, you will be given a two year one.
Renewals have to be applied for from 60 days before the expiry of your current TIE card. It is also possible to apply for the renewals up to 90 days after the expiry date of the TIE, but be aware that there is a possibility of a penalty being applied.
We strongly recommending starting the renewal 60 days before the expiry date, as this makes the process easier in general. It will also allow you spare time in case there is paperwork missing, or additional documents required.
