BARCELONA MAPS

Barcelona is a pretty easy city to navigate – especially the central part around the L´Eixample neighborhood famous for its square blocks of buildings, and a network of vertical and horizontal streets. Another very helpful method to orientate yourself, is by using the sea and the mountain (or Tibidabo) and the slight slope of the city. In other words when you walk somewhere and need orientation you should just check where is the mountain and where is the sea (how the slope is orientated). But of course before you will be able to use this method you will need to spend some time living in Barcelona.

So what maps to use and where to get them?

Of course, the most popular one is Google maps and the Google map application for your smartphone. 

Barcelona Metro map:

This map can of course be found in every metro station or on the internet. Barcelona metro system is very well distributed and the different lines are well connected to each other, as well as to the other means of transport. TIP: After you get off the metro in the middle of each platform or just after you get outside the metro, there is almost always a map of the area you are in. For example after you get off at Plaza Catalunya , there will be a map of  the nearby streets and indications of where you are, and which exit to use.

Barcelona bus map: In the website of TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) you can also get a map of the bus lines. They also have a tool where you can type street address – origin and destination – and they will show you which bus line will get you there. In fact, the same can be achieved by using Google maps.

Barcelona Renfe zones map: If you will use a train (Renfe) to move around the metropolitan area you should get to know the zones of the trains. The metropolitan area is divided into 6 zones and the ticket fees depend on the amount of zones you will need to cross to reach your destination.

If you prefer the good old-fashioned paper map of the city, you can buy one of course or go to the Tourist´s office. They have different maps there and you can find a pretty good map of the center of the city or more specific maps like – shopping map, restaurants map, etc.
